Capti vs Grantify – all you need to know
We often receive questions about how Capti Innovation sets itself apart from Grantify. To provide clarity, we have conducted interviews with clients who have used the Grantify platform. Our findings are detailed below.
It’s important to note that at Capti Innovation, we opt for a personalised approach by engaging in face-to-face client consultations and manually completing 100% of the application. Additionally, we handle the uploading of your submission to the government portal on your behalf.
Question:
By the way, how did you come across Grantify?
Answer:
I came across an Instagram advertisement recently and decided to fill out the form provided. What really caught my attention in the ad was the bold claim of a 70% success rate.
Question:
How was the sales process? Did you take the 100% write option with Grantify or did you use the portal?
Answer:
I was promptly contacted by a sales representative who impressed me with his intelligence as a Cambridge graduate. Our discussions on my innovation were engaging and insightful, showing that he was not just a typical salesperson. I appreciated his non-pushy approach and his quick grasp of the innovation’s feasibility with minimal information. Opting for the ‘Silver’ service level, which included the Platform + 2 reviews and a free second re-submission, came at a cost of £4,500 and 3% of any secured grant. A discovery call with an expert further enlightened me on Innovate UK’s expectations, giving me valuable insights as I embarked on this journey from scratch without even a company established then.
Question:
What was the next step once you had committed and paid the fee?
Answer:
After making the full payment upfront, access to their platform was granted quickly via a unique username and password. Initially, I hesitated and delayed my progress procrastinating. The platform, a web-based application utilising Typeform, presented forms divided into sections with extensive guidance through videos. The grant write proved to be much more time-consuming than anticipated, taking approximately two weeks of long hours to complete the grant write. Upon inputting responses to each section, the AI engine within the portal assists you in refining the answers provided. Grantify value lies in the insightful questions it presents in Typeform for the business owner to address and answer, rather than in the actual writing itself. It serves as a tool to you establish a solid foundation for the application but you need to assign and commit at least 2 weeks of your time to write the grant application yourself. Once written the AI within Typreform rephrases your answers.
Question:
Did Grantify write the appendices for you?
Answer:
No, They provide downloadable templates for all appendices along with an Excel sheet for entering financial data. Once I completed all the questions and appendices, I submitted them for review.
Question:
How long did it take for Grantify to review your application?
Answer:
A week later, they returned with feedback on a word document. I carefully addressed their comments and uploaded the revised version onto their system, which took three full days. They then made final revisions, a process that lasted a week before sending it back to me.
Question:
Did Grantify upload the submission to the portal for you?
Answer:
No, they returned the application to me in a Word document, I then proceeded to create my personal account on the government portal and transferred the responses into the corresponding sections, which proved to be quite challenging. Inputting the financial details was especially problematic and confusing.
Question:
Were you successful with your application, have you started your project? submitted your exploitation plan?
Answer:
No it was unsuccessful. I made the decision to resubmit my application since the silver package I had purchased from Grantify permitted resubmissions at no additional expense. This opportunity allowed me to revise and improve my submission without any further financial burden.
Question:
Did you login to Government Portal and look at the assessors feedback yourself for your application?
Answer:
Yes, I logged in however, because I had uploaded the application myself, I had to download the submission and email the PDF to Grantify including the assessor’s comments and await a reply from them.
Question:
Did Grantify rewrite your application for you?
Answer:
No, Grantify responded to me after a week with a Word document containing comments and suggested formatting changes. I addressed the comments, made revisions to the application, and resubmitted it to the government portal. However, there was no further review of the changes I had made by Grantify.
Question:
Do you still have access to your application on the Grantify portal?
Answer:
No, the portal locks you out after you submit.
Question:
Any further comments you would like to add?
Answer:
I gained valuable insights throughout the process, particularly about my own business. However, I found it to be quite mechanical and overly procedural. The entire experience felt like just checking off boxes, leaving me feeling a bit perplexed. Surprisingly, the whole timeline from start to finish spanned over 6 weeks, which was longer than I had initially anticipated. The journey was enlightening yet somewhat tedious.
